- The first Rwanda India Joint commission Meeting (JCM) took place on November 15 in Kigali. The official delegation from India was led by India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan.
- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Vincent Biruta, was the leader of the Rwandan official team.
- The JCM was postponed twice due to the Pandemic.
The first Rwanda India Joint commission Meeting (JCM) took place on November 15 in Kigali. The official delegation from India was led by India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Vincent Biruta, was the leader of the Rwandan official team. The JCM was postponed twice due to the Pandemic.
The agreements signed included taxation avoidance agreement, repurposing of $66.6 million line of credit for projects in the energy sector, the Memorandum of Understanding in the technology relation and cooperation in the field of tourism, development and promotion. Agreements on science and technology, law and justice were also signed.
In a media interaction, Biruta said that Rwanda is looking forward to forge deeper defense cooperation. Rwanda , he said is keen to welcome a military delegation from India for the first Joint Defence Cooperation meeting, to be held in Kigali.
Bilateral ties between Rwanda and India have been on sound footing ranging from infrastructure, aviation, investments, health and energy. Other areas of co-operation include ICT, tourism, education as well as defence and security.
