Tesla has officially established a local subsidiary in Casablanca, marking a significant milestone in the electric vehicle (EV) pioneer’s strategic expansion into Africa. This move not only highlights the company’s growing interest in Morocco but also positions the North African nation as a central hub for clean mobility and renewable energy innovation across the continent.
While this is Tesla’s first formal incorporation in the region, the company has been gradually building its presence in Morocco since 2021. That year, it introduced the first Supercharger stations on the African continent, strategically installed in key cities such as Tangier, Casablanca, and Marrakech. These early infrastructure investments laid the groundwork for what has now become an official and ambitious regional foothold.
Tesla Morocco was incorporated on May 27, 2025, with an initial capital investment of MAD 27.5 million. The company is headquartered in the Crystal Tower at Casablanca Marina, a prime business location that reflects Tesla’s high expectations for the Moroccan market. The subsidiary will be led by Rafael Arqueza Martin and Shahin Oliver Khorshidpanah, who are tasked with overseeing a wide range of operations, including electric vehicle sales, maintenance services, and vehicle replacement programs.
Beyond the automotive sector, Tesla’s ambitions in Morocco extend into renewable energy solutions. The company plans to introduce its solar energy generation systems, battery storage technology, and may even explore electricity distribution, demonstrating a long-term commitment to sustainable infrastructure in the region.
The creation of Tesla Morocco was facilitated by two European-based entities—Tesla International B.V. and Tesla Motors Netherlands B.V., highlighting the company’s international network and its strategic approach to entering new markets. By establishing this subsidiary, Tesla is leveraging Morocco’s favourable investment climate and its progressive stance on clean energy to serve as a launchpad for broader African operations.

In addition to commercial activities, the new Moroccan entity is expected to provide technical support, engineering services, and contribute to local workforce development through training and knowledge transfer. These efforts align closely with Morocco’s national goals of becoming a leader in green technology, sustainable transport, and renewable energy deployment.
With this landmark entry, Tesla not only reinforces Morocco’s status as a growing innovation hub but also underscores its own role in shaping the future of clean mobility and energy in Africa.
