The trade volume between Tanzania and Pakistan rose by about 44 percent in one year, riding on the back of the former’s cotton exports to the latter. The Pakistani High Commissioner to Tanzania, Mr Muhammad Saleem, said that the volume rose from US$107.4 million in the 2018-19 financial year to US$154.8 million in t2019-20..
Pakistan’s exports to Tanzania reached US$69.8 million during the 2019-20 financial year while Pakistan imported goods and services valued at US$85 million from Tanzania.
The other items Pakistan exported to the East African nation included textiles, linens, tents and woven cotton fabrics among others. The main imports from Tanzania include raw cotton, tea, dry fruits, cloves, hides, groundnuts, beans and others.
There are also gold exports from Tanzania besides diamonds, coffee, cashew nuts and precious metals. Pakistan exports textiles, agricultural machinery and equipment, fertilizer, sugar, industrial plants for cement among others to Tanzania.
