Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli  took oath as the President for a second five-year term after  the  landslide election victory. The oath ceremony took place in Dodoma, the Tanzanian capital on Thursday. The opposition, while calling the election as a sham, urged for re-election. They also called for the disbandment of the electoral commission over the Oct. 28 Presidential election on the allegation that   it was riddled with irregularities. However,  supporters of Magufuli are celebrating the landslide victory.

Those who are overjoyed by Magufuli’s  re-election are hoping that he would continue  with his good work  in improving infrastructure, the availability of clean water for all, free education and several  other measures directed at low income people. Many people are confident that he could take the country to greater heights, having achieved the task of making Tanzania to be ranked along with the low middle income countries.

Meanwhile, leaders of Tanzania’s two main opposition parties-  ACT Wazalendo and CHADEMA — who are on a collusion path  by refusing  to recognize Magufuli’s win, have been charged with organizing an unlawful assembly.
