Statistics show that Tanzania’s total horticultural crop production in 2023-24 reached 174,904.81 metric tonnes, with an export value of over USD 253.8 million, reinforcing the sector’s role as a key driver of economic growth.

Over 25 Tanzanian companies engaging in the agriculture sector participated in the Fruit Logistic 2025 Exhibition to promote local fresh produce. The global trade fair took place from February 5 to 7 this year in Berlin, Germany. The companies were led by the Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (Copra) and the Tanzania Horticultural Association (Taha).

Fruit Logistica is one of the most influential global trade fairs for the fresh produce industry, attracting over 135 countries and thousands of exhibitors and buyers. The event serves as a premier platform for international trade linkages, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange in the fresh produce sector. Tanzania has participated in this fair before, but for the first time, the newly established institution (Copra) and the regulatory authority responsible for structured markets in horticulture will actively participate and lead a delegation.

The Tanzania pavilion included stakeholders in the avocado value chain and the Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) youth program, as well as Taha members in the spices, fruits, and vegetable sectors.
