The third G25 African Coffee Summit “Unlocking Employment Opportunities for Youth Through the Regeneration of the African Coffee Industry,” is scheduled for 21–22 February 2025 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The summit aims to revitalise Africa’s coffee sector to create jobs for youth and women. 

Hosted by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the event will gather Heads of State, senior government ministers, coffee authorities, and private sector stakeholders from 25 African coffee-producing countries. Discussions will focus on developing programmes for youth employment and entrepreneurship, exploring opportunities within the coffee value chain, and enhancing access to finance for coffee-related projects through frameworks like the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The summit will culminate in the presentation of the “Dar es Salaam Declaration,” outlining commitments to:

Lobby the African Union to fund projects that boost coffee production and domestic consumption. Encourage African coffee-consuming countries to prioritise sourcing from African producers. Elevate Africa’s share of global coffee production from 11% to 20% by 2030. Increase Africa’s portion of global domestic coffee consumption from 12.3% to 30% by 2030. Foster local value addition by investing in coffee processing plants. Establish an African Centre for Coffee Research to tackle productivity and quality challenges.
