(3 Minutes Read)

TAAG Angola Airlines has received its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, marking a key milestone in the airline’s fleet modernisation efforts. This aircraft is the first of four Dreamliners ordered to enhance long-haul routes to Europe, Asia, and North America. The 787-9 boasts 25% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to older models, reflecting TAAG’s focus on efficiency and sustainability.

The addition of the 787 Dreamliner will allow TAAG to broaden its long-haul network, with plans for new routes to Europe and potential opportunities in Asia and North America. This delivery coincides with Angola’s Liberation Day on February 4, nearly 50 years after TAAG acquired its first Boeing 737-200. The new aircraft features an updated livery and is leased from AerCap. TAAG’s current fleet includes Boeing 777s and Next-Generation 737s, connecting Angola to 12 destinations across Africa, Europe, South America, and China.

Nelson Pedro Rodrigues de Oliveira, CEO of TAAG Angola Airlines, emphasised that the delivery of the 787-9 is crucial for modernising the fleet, providing the efficiency and flexibility needed to meet rising market demands and deliver a top-tier experience to passengers. Anbessie Yitbarek, Vice President of Boeing Commercial Sales for Africa, acknowledged the strong partnership between Boeing and TAAG, expressing hope for ongoing collaboration and innovation.
