The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit had a positive impact on stabilizing conditions in the region and contributed to the return of a significant number of vessels to the Suez Canal. According to navigation statistics, 229 ships resumed transit through the canal in October alone, the highest monthly recovery level since the beginning of the crisis.
Moreover, navigation indicators in the Suez Canal recorded a relative improvement between July and October 2025, with 4,405 ships transiting, carrying a total of 185 million tons, compared to 4,332 ships with 167.6 million tons during the same period last year.
Recently in October, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation reported that the Suez Canal witnessed a substantial decline in activity during the 2024/2025 fiscal year. Canal activity dropped by 52% year-on-year, with Q4 alone seeing a 5.5% dip compared to the same period the previous year.

The ministry attributed the continued downturn to a combination of global economic uncertainty and persistent geopolitical tensions in the region. The year-over-year drop was also influenced by a base-year effect, given the previous year’s significant 68.2% contraction in Q4.
