Japan is intensifying its cooperation with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). The latest is the MOU signed by the Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal el-Din with Toyota Tsusho Corporation. The agreement is part of the continued joint efforts by the SCZONE and the Japanese side to increase the number of Japanese projects in the economic zone.
A statement issued by SCZONE said that the objective of the MoU is to boost cooperation between the two sides in several projects targeting the economic zone’s development. The MOU is expected to cover several projects including infrastructure and developments related to carbon neutrality that includes logistics, renewable energy, water, and production of green and energy hydrogen. Blue ammonia projects are of key interest to both sides.
Toyota Tsusho is part of a consortium along with France’s Bolloré Transport & Logistics and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). The consortium is assigned to build, operate, and transfer a roll-on roll-off vehicle terminal at East Port Said (RORO terminal). Gamal el-Din, highlighted SCZONE’s capabilities to be a global hub for green fuel production with its strategic location.
