Seela Ceramic Factory in Bhari area of Khartoum was caught fire and 23 -people were reported to be dead including several Indians. In a statement issued today, the Indian embassy in Sudan said that 18 Indians are likely to have been killed in the incident. But there is no official confirmation on the causality so far.
According to some agency reports, the Sudan government put the official death toll at 23. Over 130 people are reported to be injured in the fire. The immediate reason for the catastrophe is said to be improperly stored inflammable materials.
India’s external affairs minister S Jaishankar also confirmed that a number of Indians had been killed in the fire. India has opened a a 24-hour emergency hotline. The Indian Embassy representatives had rushed to the site and that the embassy would be putting out updates on social media.
