Sudan continues in a state of emergency due to devastating floods caused due to heavy rainfall and floods in the last few months.
To aid victims, The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is lending assistance and the United Arab Emirates sent 100 tonnes of relief goods in an emergency flight from Dubai loaded with large quantities of medical supplies, food and shelter material, such as tents, blankets and tarpaulins and sanitary materials.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said that his country stood with Sudan at the time of the devastating floods. The UAE dispatched flood relief goods to Sudan, which were destined to flood hit parts of the country. The floods snatched lives of over 100 people, rendered thousands homeless and displaced an equal number of people.
Incessant rains are still continuing. The relief operations can be undertaken in full swing once the rain’s intensity gets reduced and flood recedes.
