After the coup, Sudanese citizens took to the streets in demonstrations. Those demonstrations were suppressed by security forces. This has left at least 12 people dead and hundreds injured, according to unofficial reports. The deposed Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, called for his government to be reinstated. He is under house arrest. The efforts of diplomats, businessmen and journalists to mediate and to end the stalemate eluded a concrete decision till now.
