Cameroonian IT services firm ST Digital has launched GPU Cloud Africa, the first sovereign AI server hosting service in Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire. Set to begin operations on February 11, 2025, the service will be available from the second quarter of 2025.
This initiative is designed to foster sustainable AI development in Africa by equipping startups, academic institutions, and research centers with the necessary tools to create AI solutions in optimal conditions. ST Digital highlights that the service provides ideal hosting for various AI applications, including deep learning, big data analysis, and advanced simulations.
ST Digital emphasizes its commitment to delivering a solution that combines performance, security, and data sovereignty, allowing African innovators to develop their own AI solutions without depending on foreign infrastructure. Anthony Same, CEO of ST Digital, notes that the cloud service will offer ready-to-use solutions tailored for African businesses and researchers, ensuring data is stored locally with personalized support for developers and startups.
