Spanish Companies to Invest in Tanzania’s Agriculture, Mining and Energy Sectors

During the over 58-year relationship between Tanzania and Spain, Spain has been a key development partner in the sectors of health, water, rural electrification, and agribusiness, which have been essential in making the partnership an important pillar for promoting sustainable development.

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Tanzania Cosato Chumi, has revealed that many Spanish companies have expressed interest in investing in Tanzania, citing that is an indication of the growing strength of economic and investment relations between the two countries.

He made the statement during the celebration of Spain’s National Day in Dar es Salaam, noting that the companies are eyeing to invest in the sectors of agriculture, mining, energy, ICT, and infrastructure. Chumi stated that Tanzania values the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of their people.

He added that the over 58-year relationship between Tanzania and Spain, Spain has been a key development partner in the sectors of health, water, rural electrification, and agribusiness, which have been essential in making the partnership an important pillar for promoting sustainable development.

Commenting on collaborative projects, the Deputy Minister cited the Msimbazi River Restoration Project in Dar es Salaam, implemented jointly by the government of Tanzania, the World Bank, and the government of Spain, as a clear example of shared commitment to improving the environment and the well-being of Tanzanian citizens.

On behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, he also conveyed congratulatory messages from President Samia Suluhu Hassan to the government and people of the Kingdom of Spain.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Tanzania, Paloma Robles, reaffirmed the commitment of the Spanish government to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and social relations with Tanzania. The Spanish envoy noted that Spain recognizes Tanzania’s contribution to peace and development in Africa.
