faceATT, an advanced facial recognition app designed for security, access control, visitor logging, and time management, has expanded beyond South Africa as various sectors discover its diverse applications. Created by the South African AI software company R8Code, faceATT facilitates real-time access control and monitoring through precise facial recognition, timestamping, and GPS tracking on smartphones.
Founder AJ Makoni reports that clients in South Africa and now Zambia are implementing faceATT to bolster security in warehouses, hospitality, logistics, and manufacturing. Makoni notes that three new Zambian clients are utilising faceATT for distinct purposes. One property management firm uses it to verify that staff are inspecting properties as scheduled and to prevent personal use of company vehicles by employing GPS data and property photos. Another client, a security and cash-in-transit service, has replaced traditional paper shift rosters and attendance logs with faceATT’s facial recognition, GPS, and timestamps, enabling headquarters to monitor employee movements. A third Zambian client, a transportation company, is testing the technology to curb fuel theft and ensure accurate distance reporting on trips.
“FaceATT is revolutionising the security sector in several ways,” says Makoni. It digitises previously paper-based processes, enhancing efficiency and allowing users to pay only for verified, tamper-proof service hours. With a real-time attendance system, the app ensures that security personnel are where they need to be, as scheduled. Additionally, faceATT is invaluable at complex entrances and office parks, digitising visitor logs, managing walk-ins and drive-in traffic in real time, and blacklisting unwanted visitors.

The app is continuously updated in response to market demands, with features such as payroll and HR integrations. Employees can set alarms to remind them to clock out and in after breaks. For real-time timekeeping and access control, supervisors can scan employees’ faces upon arrival and departure, or employees can log in via their smartphones. FaceATT also includes tools for dynamically assigning, tracking, and managing tasks within the app.
