ROKOSAN Company from Slovakia is setting up a factory in the industrial park of Bugesera District, Rwanda to produce ‘organic fertilizers’ from poultry feathers, cattle hooves and horns. Rokosan International opened its branch in Rwanda last year.
The spokesman of the company said that the investment in the plant will be around €20mn. The proposed organic fertilizer plant that produces fertilizers from local resources is expected to revolutionise the processing of animal waste into organic fertilizer. The company will be setting up collection points across the country for processing animal waste such as hoofs and horns of cattle animals as well as poultry feathers from the chicken farmers that will give opportunity to Rwandan farmers
A delegation from Slovakia consisting of members of ROKOVIA, ROKOSAN RWANDA, Slovak Agency for Development, Investment and Trade (SARIO) and economic diplomats from the Slovak embassy in Nairobi called on the Minister of Trade and Industry, Béata Habyarimana and presented cooperation opportunities between Slovak and Rwandan businesses. The foundation stone was also laid at the site in Bugesera District for construction of the organic fertilizer factory during the visit of the delegation.
The plant is expected to start production by the second quarter of 2022 to produce 20 million litres of organic fertilizers per year. A laboratory to conduct soil analysis and analysis of the crops suitable for the fertilizers will also be set up.
