Sierra Leone to distribute farm equipment to farmers

·        Sierra Leone’s President Dr Julius Maada Bio visited the pavilion  of the Ministry of Agriculture that displayed about 2,410 agricultural implements and 410 tractors for the 2021 planting season

·        All the 410 tractors and 2,410 farming implements on display at the exhibition would be distributed across the country by next week among farmers to ensure that farmers were ready for the 2021 planting season

Sierra Leone’s President Dr Julius Maada Bio visited the pavilion  of the Ministry of Agriculture that displayed about 2,410 agricultural implements and 410 tractors for the 2021 planting season.

The President highlighted the overall goal of their agricultural policy, which was aimed  at diversifying  the production of food, increasing investment in agriculture, developing and implementing mechanized commercial farming to transform the traditional subsistence
agricultural sector in the country. In the 2018, the country has evolved a New Direction Manifesto which is aimed at pushing up the agriculture production of the country.

President Bio said that the government was serious about improving the agricultural sector and providing an enabling ecosystem for farmers to exhibit and  realize their true potentials. He also referred to the importance assigned by the government in mechanization of agriculturenin the country, which was critical to raise production and productivity. All the 410 tractors and 2,410 farming implements on display at the exhibition would be distributed across the country by next week among farmers to ensure that farmers were ready for the 2021 planting season.
