Shell Egypt to Invest in West Mena Field

Shell will lead the development and operation of the West Mena field with a 60% stake, in partnership with Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC Egypt), holding the remaining 40%. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).

Shell Egypt has made an investment decision to develop the gas discovery in the West Mena field, located in the North East El-Amriya offshore concession area in the Mediterranean Sea, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Discovered in October 2023, the West Mena field will be developed by tying it into the existing infrastructure of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession, supporting Egypt’s domestic energy supply.
