Seychelles is set to transform its digital payment systems. Towards that goal , a group of web developers has been trained in e-commerce in a bid to modernize and handle the day –to-day requirements of the challenges of digitization.
The recently held three day training program by the Central Bank in collaboration with the Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT) and three commercial banks were attended by 60 participants. The program imparted modules on e-commerce and gave tips to website developers how to create payment gateways into websites.
Experts feel that the Island Nation should have more web designers and payment gateways to help the country to migrate to digital payment format. They have to work with banks and merchants to see how they can interlink their systems so that people can migrate to using digital payment facilities when transacting. Digital financial services in the country have got a boost with several restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
