Seychelles has launched the National Digital Identification platform recently as a step toward strengthening the digitization drive of the Island country. The project is called ‘SeyID’. The platform is based on WISeKey’s WiseID. It is aimed to guarantee a high level of digital identity and online security and is already available to download on the Google Play Store
Seychelles has launched the National Digital Identification platform recently as a step toward strengthening the digitization drive of the Island country. The project is called ‘SeyID’. The platform is based on WISeKey’s WiseID. It is aimed to guarantee a high level of digital identity and online security and is already available to download on the Google Play Store.
Headquartered in Switzerland, WISeKey is a leading global cybersecurity company deploying large-scale digital identity ecosystems for people using Blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI)) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Digital identification offers more privacy and control over personal information. It is expected to alleviate some of the risks associated with physical documents such as driver’s licenses, passports, or bank cards. The launch ceremony was attended by the President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, and Vice-President, Ahmed Afif, among other dignitaries.

The SeyID platform will also assist the accessing of numerous public and private services that choose to integrate with the SeyID platform through the application programming interfaces (APIs) that will be made available to allow for interfacing between systems. The launching ceremony was followed by a half-day software development workshop on the use of the Sey-ID testing environment.
