Nigeria’s Dangote Cement Plc is investing heavily in Senegalese economy. Dangote’s cement plant located in Pout, 60 kilometres away from Dakar, has helped in strengthening the business relationship between Senegal and Nigeria.
The cement plant has a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, producing higher quality cement to meet the country’s demand, besides exporting to neighboring countries around Senegal.
Dangote Cement’s investment in Senegal is contributing significantly to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It also brings considerable export revenue on the table. The plant has also created both direct and indirect employment opportunities for many people in Senegal. Business partnership between Nigeria and Senegal has been improving over the years. Many Nigerian companies have invested in Senegal, besides Nigerian banks opening branches in the country.
Dangote Cement is also involved in corporate social responsibility in Senegal and has done a lot of work in setting up community development and poverty eradication programs in that country.
