The national dialogue initiated by Senegalese President Macky Sall proposed June 02 to the holding of the 2024 presidential election. This date would allow voting to take place before the rainy season, as requested by the President at the opening of the dialogue. The participants in this meeting also proposed keeping the list of 19 candidates validated by the Constitutional Council, with the possibility of examining the files of disqualified candidates for an opportunity to participate in the coming election. The technical commissions, after the meeting, recommended that the Senegalese head of state should oversee the transition after the conclusion of his mandate on April 2, until the election of his successor.
