RH Bophelo is working out plans to take over National Health Insurance (NHI) by the end of the year, if everything goes as planned. If the take-over does happen, RH Bophelo will be entering the precinct of a tough industry vertical –affordable healthcare and will be closing rank swith Netcare and Mediclinic, the large players in the vertical.
RH Bophelo was listed on the JSE in 2017. Its aim is to become a major player in the healthcare industry. The lesser known but ambitious company is focusing to bring on fold country’s small urban areas where people do not have access to private healthcare facilities. The upshot of the strategy is that it would partner with both government and NHI to achieve its goal of becoming a healthcare powerhouse. The company is focusing to give investors a different profile by focusing on low –end target group as against its competitors who are more involved in high-end healthcare.
RH Bophelo has been on the roll for quite some time. It has acquired 60% of Wesmart Financial and Administration Solutions for R2.7 billion. This acquisition has helped the company to provide the Docsure-Dema-sure medical aid products priced from R575 to ensure its affordability to the low income people. Country’s private hospitals are upfront with many challenges emanating from a weak economy and stagnant growth for medical insured lives of about nine million.
