Safaricom: Kenya’s and Africa’s Premier Employer as Ranked by TEI

Telecommunications service provider Safaricom has been ranked the top employer in 2025. The ranking done by the Top Employer Institute (TEI) also placed the telco top in Africa for the fourth year running.

According to TEI, the ranking is based on Safaricom’s human resource (HR) policies and people practices. This year’s Top Employers Certification Programme showcases the resilience of the certified Top Employers 2025, who consistently prioritize the growth and wellbeing of their people, as they enrich the world of work,” said TEI CEO David Plink.

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, on his part, asserted that the recognition speaks to the strong brand built by the telco over time. This certification is an endorsement of the strong employer brand that Safaricom has created over the years by providing an agile working environment and numerous opportunities for employees to grow in their chosen crafts, he said.

The TEI certification is based on a review of employer practices across six human resource domains consisting of 20 areas, including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity and inclusion, and well-being, among others.
