South Africa took over the chairmanship of the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) BRICS from China on January 1st, 2023.

He also promised to invite more African countries to BRICS annual summit to be hosted this year in South Africa. He added that the next BRICS Summit will open opportunities for African countries to use BRICS to develop the continent. He said that the solidarity in BRICS can be used to advance the interests, of not only South Africa but also the continent as a whole.
