Rwandan entrepreneurs are interested in diversifying their financial involvement in Mozambique in the near future. They are eyeing a range of domains for investment such as processing of tea, coffee and dairy products, mining, logistics and tourism. The Rwandan businessmen are also interested in importing various goods from Mozambique.

These expressions of interest had cropped up in Kigali during the 24th edition of the Rwanda International Trade Fair. Mozambique was a keen participant at the fair and was adjudged as the “Best Foreign Exhibitor Country”.

More than 400 exhibitors from 15 countries took part in the fair. The fair provided an opportunity for interaction through “B2B” (business-to-business) and “B2C” (business-to-consumer) meetings. The Mozambican delegation at the fair was headed by the director general of the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports (APIEX), Gil Bires.

The delegation consisted of representatives from Ministries of Industry and Commerce, the National Directorate of Industry, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources and the I Fund for Investment and Assets of Water Supply (FIPAG). Several corporations also took part in the fair, which generated considerable business interests for Mozambican products.

This was Mozambique’s first participation in the Rwanda International Fair. The fair was organized by the Private Sector Federation (PSF) in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM), the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and other key institutions.
