Rwanda has become the eleventh country to be remapped through Google’s new feature Street View. The facility, apart from showing street addresses, also gives images of a place.
According to the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, the work has started to cover Kigali city and proposes to continue beyond Kigali. One can visit Google Maps or Google Earth and use the Street View layer to see the coverage across Kigali city. It is viewed as a great way to promote the country’s tourism and enable more accurate google maps. It has been observed that the entire face of Kigali has changed in the last few months and without the updates, people may end up getting lost while using google maps for directions.
The other countries where the project has been started are Kenya, South Africa, and Senegal.
