Rwanda has opened a consular office in Kolkata, India with consular jurisdiction over the States of West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
Rwanda has opened a consular office in Kolkata, India with consular jurisdiction over the Indian States in the eastern region, such as West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Rwanda already has two other Honorary Consulates operating in Bangalore and Mumbai. The government of Rwanda has appointed Rudra Chartejee as the Honorary Consul of Rwanda, in Kolkata.
Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of Rwanda to India observed that the bilateral ties between India and Rwanda witnessed healthy growth with a primary focus on cooperation in trade and investment. Other potential areas of cooperation include defence and security, health, education, and ICT. She was confident that the new office in Kolkata would further enhance the business partnership between Rwanda and India, and promote people-to-people contacts. She invited Indians to visit Rwanda and experience its tourist attractions.
