Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouli, said that there was an urgent need to work on the new Suez Canal project to increase the revenues of the Suez Canal. This, he said, while reviewing the performance of the canal between 2014 and 2023.
Madbouli pointed out that in 2015-2016, the canal achieved revenues of US$5 billion. As of now, its revenues have reached US$8 billion, registering a surge in revenue operations.

The revenues of the Suez Canal in 2022 were estimated at US$7.932 billion, as against US$6 billion in 2021. In 2023, the canal is expected to achieve a return of more than US$8 billion. This is a remarkable feat, an unprecedented boom, despite the existing global crisis.
