South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa said recently his ruling African National Congress (ANC) was determined to fight against crime and corruption. A series of graft scandals have damaged the party’s popularity and image. He was speaking at celebrations that marked the ANC’s 111th anniversary, where the party’s programme of action is spelt out for the year ahead.
Ramaphosa was re-elected as ANC leader in December. Referring to blackouts in the country, the president said that resolving the energy crisis is his top priority while conceding that load-shedding was harming the country’s economic growth.

South Africa is currently on Stage 3 power cuts. The recently released PMI index of the country revealed that long power cuts the country has been suffering because of the shutdown of a few energy utilities in the country have led to massive power cuts.
