Ramaphosa pitches for the continent at G-7 meeting

The 2022 G-7 participation, South Africa feels will provide the country an opportunity to highlight the concerns of developing countries and to advocate the continued global attention for equitable distribution of resources. Other non-member countries to attend the outreach sessions along with G-7 members are Senegal, Argentina, India, and Indonesia. One of the topics of discussion will be how to tackle the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). The partnership could see support Africa’s decarbonization efforts 

 South African President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Munich, Germany on Sunday for the G-7 summit and participated in two outreach sessions yesterday ( Monday). In the first outreach session, issues of climate, energy, and health were discussed. In the second session, the summit will address the need for advancing gender equality and food security issues.

France, Germany, Japan, the US, the UK, Canada, and Italy are members of the G7. The group for every meeting would invite heads of other countries for the outreach programs.
