In a clear demonstration of its confidence in African business, Radisson is continuing its plan to expand its African portfolio. The Group has secured five new hotels in four African cities as of April 2022. The new properties have added almost 600 rooms to its capacity in Ethiopia, Senegal, Ghana and Tunisia. The new ones will include the fast-growing upscale Radisson brand as well as the Group’s newest conversion brand, Radisson Individuals.
Radisson Hotel Addis Ababa Bole Airport, the first Radisson branded hotel in East Africa is expected to start functioning in summer 2023. The others are Radisson Resort Dakar Saly in Senegal; Radisson Hotel Sfax in Tunisia; La Maison Blanche Tunis, a member of Radisson Individuals; and Radisson Individuals in Accra, Ghana.
According to a spokesperson of the Group, Radisson proposes to increase its properties across Africa to 150 by 2025 from the current 100 properties. The Group currently targets to add more than a dozen hotels in 2022. Earlier this year, it opened three hotels in Madagascar and will be opening hotels in South Sudan, Djibouti, Victoria Falls, and Ghana shortly.
In 2021, the Radisson Hotel Group set a record with 14 hotel signings in countries such as Morocco, Djibouti, Ghana, and Zambia, adding over 2,500 rooms to its African portfolio. Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Global Chief Development Officer of the Group observed that for the global hotel chain, Africa remains a priority. The opening of the Hotels is expected to unlock the business potential of Africa as also generate jobs.
