The Abla Ababou Gallery in Rabat, Morocco is bringing together six Moroccan designers, each with a distinct style and approach to their craft to celebrate the power of design. The event will highlight works that mix tradition and modernity.
The exhibition, which closed on December 2, centered on creative Moroccan designs. In local language, the exhibition was named “Eloge du Geste,” which roughly translates to “In Praise of Gesture.” It featured around 130 pieces, old and new, traditional and innovative, and iconic and abstract.
One participant at the event, designer Reda Bouamrani found two inspirations for his work, historical Islamic art and Art Deco. He merged the two types of art as a “way to explore this fusion and offer that subtle nod to both traditions.” The material artists chose was consistent with the theme of the exhibition.

With its uncluttered architecture built to international standards, museum-quality lighting and over five-metre-high ceilings, the nearly 200 m2 space lends itself to all kinds of cultural events.
