Qatari delegation explores investment expansion with Egypt

A series of meetings have been held between Qatar business community and the General Authority for Free Zones and Investment (GAFI), Egypt to  boost investment from Qatar.

 

A series of meetings have been held between Qatar business community and the General Authority for Free Zones and Investment (GAFI), Egypt to  boost investment from Qatar.

The Qatari business delegation was led by Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassem Al-Thani. The Egyptian delegation included representatives from the sectors of constructions, energy, and tourism such as The Arab Contractors, ElSewedi Electric, and Benya and others. Representatives of relevant ministries and governmental bodies also were part of the meeting.

Chairman of GAFI, Mohamed Abdel Wahab urged Qatari investors to take advantage of the various incentives offered by the Egyptian government, particularly, the recently-launched “Golden License,” a unified operation permit. The potential investment sectors included public facilities, infrastructure, new and renewable energy, transportation and roads, and telecommunications and information technology.

Abdel Wahab assured the Qatari businessmen that the license would be granted in three months, and investors would be granted a five-year residence, to be renewed automatically.

The leader of the Qatari delegation, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassem Al-Thani stated that Qatari investors are keen on investing in the sectors of healthcare, education, and hospitality, and also opportunities in Delta and Upper Egypt.
