The political analysts are of the view that Zimbabwe has an inherent potential as a safe economic hub and transit route. The introduction of Qatar Airways connectivity to the country can make Zimbabwe an attractive business destination contributing to global trade and economic development positively impacting foreign direct investment (FDI) and trade. It is also expected to increase access to foreign markets, encouraging exports, and increasing competition in the local economy, thus benefiting consumers.
This is also in line with the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS 1) — a five-year economic blueprint that runs from 2021-2025 — launched by President Mnangagwa in November last year.
