President Sisi concludes his state visit to India

President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, concluded his State visit to India from 24-26 January 2023.He was invited by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as the Chief Guest on India’s 74th Republic Day on January 26th.

President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, concluded his State visit to India from 24-26 January 2023. He was invited by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as the Chief Guest on India’s 74th Republic Day.

This is for the first time that the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt was invited as Chief Guest on India’s Republic Day. Both countries are celebrating 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations this year. India has also invited Egypt as a ‘Guest Country’ during India’s Presidency of G-20 in 2022-23.

President Sisi was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including five Ministers and senior officials.  President Sisi and Prime Minister Modi had a bilateral meeting on bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest. The visiting dignitary and the delegation also interacted with the Indian Business community.

The bilateral economic ties between Egypt and India have been fairly balanced and steadily growing. The two-way trade in FY 2021-22 was to the tune of USD 7.26 billion with USD 3.74 billion in Indian exports to Egypt and USD 3.52 billion in imports from Egypt to India. India is also a significant investor in Egypt. More than 50 Indian companies have invested around USD 3.15 billion in a range of sectors such as chemicals, energy, textile, garment, agri-business, retail, etc.
