Portuguese investigators will work directly with the judicial authorities of Sao Tome and Principe. As reported by www.trendnafrica.com there was a failed coup attempt in this small island country in the Gulf of Guinea. The government claims to have foiled overnight the coup.
Four people arrested following the coup died. No reason was attributed to their deaths. The country got independence in 1975. It has firmly condemned the violent attempt to subvert the constitutional order. The erstwhile colony of the Portuguese is considered to be a model of parliamentary democracy in Africa.
