The popular German TV serial, ‘Das Traumschiff’, which featured Seychelles in one of its latest episodes called ‘Dream Ship’ in English, has brought some glory to the tourism industry of the island nation. The widely watched German series is about a cruise ship – the MS Amadea – that travels to explore exotic tourist destinations across the globe.
Dream Ship is one of the most-watched television shows in Germany, which can hark back a history of four decades. Germany is one of Seychelles’ key tourism markets. The extensive coverage of the islands’ pristine beauty was widely appreciated by the large German audience. Seychelles tourism authorities feel that this could attract high spending tourists from Germany. Chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Sherin Francis had endorsed this view.
The episode, which has a duration of 89-minute, was aired on January 1. Reports indicate that the viewers could get a better understanding of the crystal-clear waters of Seychelles and the white sandy beaches of several islands that cobble up the archipelago. Islands depicted in the series included La Digue’s rustic charms and the Desroches’ secluded beaches dotted with coconut trees. The serial also pictured exotic fruits, cash crops like Cocoa grown in different islands. The lush green vegetation, towering boulders, meadows, fishing villages, abundant fish catches through traditional and modern methods etc were delightful to the viewers while watching the story unfold.
