·        National Treasury will offer 100% tax relief to persons
earning less than Sh24, 000.

Kenya’s President Kenyatta has announced pay cuts for himself and his
council of ministers to combat the backlash of coronavirus pandemic.
The president and deputy Ruto would  forgo 80% of their salaries,
while Cabinet Secretaries and Chief Administrative Secretaries will
take a hit of 30% each and 20% for Permanent Secretaries.

The president also said that the number of cases in the country had
increased by four and now stood at 28. Importantly, one patient has
recovered from COVID-19. National Treasury will offer 100% tax relief
to persons earning less than Sh24, 000. The peak rate of Income tax is
slashed from 30% to 25%. The country has also imposed daily curfew
from 7pm to 5am. All State and Public Officers having pre-existing
medical conditions or aged 58 years and above can take leave or work
from home.
