The COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh includes a pavilion for children and youth. This is for the first time such a pavilion is created at the level of climate conferences.
Revealing this Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, said that the pavilion reflects Egypt’s belief in the importance of youth participation in climate action, as also the importance of raising children’s awareness regarding the climate crisis and ways to deal with it. The participation of youth should not be limited to expressing an opinion, but enable them to offer solutions and participate in their implementation. He stressed the importance of involving youth in decision-making regarding climate action, as they are the best in determining their destiny and shaping their future.

He confirmed the importance of raising awareness among children about the climate crisis in a simple way. Accordingly, he suggested coming out with an Arabic version of a children’s book in Spanish, to raise Arab children’s awareness regarding this important issue.
