Pan-African Peace Conference Ends in Angola: Stressed  More Committed Approach for Building Democratic Institutions

The Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace met in Luanda, the capital city of Angola from November 22 to 24. The third edition of this biennale event, which discussed a wide range of issues, was importantly attended by Malawi’s former president Joyce Banda

The Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace met in Luanda, the capital city of Angola from November 22 to 24. The third edition of this biennale event, which discussed a wide range of issues, was importantly attended by Malawi’s former president Joyce Banda.

Praising Angola’s effort to build peace and trust across the continent, she highlighted the efforts being made by the host country -Angola- to work towards creating a peaceful ambiance in the continent. She underscored the need for making trust-building exercises among African countries a powerful movement. She promised her wholehearted support to Angolan President Joan Lourenço in strengthening the movement. She also pointed out the role played by the Angolan President in mediating the peace process between the DR Congo and Rwanda.

Joyce Banda pointed out that the African Union could be a reality only when all African leaders worked extremely hard to build democratic institutions in a coordinated manner addressing the real problems and finding lasting solutions to them.  The Biennale at  Luanda is organized by the Government of Angola, UNESCO, and the AU. The main theme of this Biennale was Education, the Culture of Peace, and African citizenship as tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent. Participants expressed different shades of opinions to permeate peace and tranquillity among the countries in the region
