Pan-African asset finance provider, Watu Simu, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling over one million mobile devices in the Kenyan market.
The accomplishment comes through its subsidiary, Watu Simu, in collaboration with top manufacturers including Samsung Mobile.
The company reached this goal by financing the smartphone purchase for its millionth customer at the end of October, just 23 months after entering the mobile device asset finance industry.
Watu Simu aims to meet the needs of customers seeking quality smartphones, which typically cost between Ksh 45,000 and Ksh 80,000. Michuki noted that over 70% of devices purchased are being actively utilized in economic sectors that rely on digital tools, such as ride-hailing, online delivery, and various marketplace services.

With a growing customer base that extends beyond Kenya and Tanzania, Watu Credit currently boasts over 1.5 million mobile device customers, making it the fastest-growing smartphone financier in sub-Saharan Africa.
