Tanzania Global Logistics Convention 2024 anticipates the participation of more than 400 transport and logistics stakeholders from different parts of the world. This event is being organized by the Tanzanian Association of Freight Forwarders (TAFFA). The convention is set to discuss various issues about the transportation sector.
Addressing journalists in Dar es Salaam today, Wednesday (August 7, 2024), TAFFA’s President Edward Urio said the two-day event will begin on August 14, 2024, under the theme: “Africa Supply Chain and Logistics Industry in the Age of Sustainability.”
He mentioned that the event will help address the current needs of the transport and logistics sector in adapting to the dynamic world of logistics.
He welcomed Tanzanians to attend the event, saying it is an important opportunity for locals to build business confidence, gain industry insight, and network with international companies. This is a golden opportunity for Tanzanians to connect with global transportation firms and expand their business networks since executives from global companies will attend the event, he said.
He also noted that mismanagement in the logistics sector could escalate project costs nationwide, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues in the sector.
Furthermore, he revealed that Tanzania is one of East Africa’s leading countries with numerous member companies in the Customs Agents Sector, with TAFFA currently boasting a strong membership base.
Beatrice Jairo, from the Tanzanian Ports Authority (TPA) said the event would improve the authority’s marketing intelligence, address critical data gaps, and promote local ports, including Tanga, Kyela, Mtwara, Mwanza, and Kigoma. She also noted that the conference would enhance the promotion of Tanzania’s tourist attractions, aligning with government efforts to bolster the tourism sector.
Masato Bhokoe from NMB Bank stressed the importance of learning from the global logistics sector and noted the bank’s collaboration with TPA and TAFFA. He added that the meeting would serve as a platform to understand sector challenges and align their strategies for mutual growth.

TAFFA is a non-profit organization established in 1979 to represent all the clearing and forwarding firms in Tanzania. Today the Association has a membership base of over 1000 clearing and forwarding companies that are licensed. The association is a founder member of the Private Sector Federation of Tanzania. The formation of the Association was initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs which was keen to see the growth of the clearing and forwarding industry.
