Ohlthaver & List Group (O&L) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening its presence in Namibia’s tourism and hospitality sector, unveiling plans for continued acquisitions of carefully selected properties. This initiative forms a core part of O&L’s long-term strategy aimed at building a cohesive network of high-end destinations that embody Namibian culture while delivering international standards of service.
The announcement follows the recent confirmation of O&L’s intention to acquire Le Mirage Resort & Spa, located near Sossusvlei, and Divava Okavango Lodge & Spa in the Kavango Region. These additions mark a significant step in the implementation of the group’s Vision 2029 growth strategy. Sven Thieme, Executive Chairman of O&L and Managing Director of O&L Leisure, emphasised that the company is purposefully targeting “handpicked” locations that contribute to a broader narrative. “Our acquisitions are not just about expanding our portfolio. They are about storytelling—rooted in heritage, history, and the natural beauty of Namibia,”.
He explained that the company’s approach prioritises destinations that can immerse guests in the country’s unique landscapes and cultural richness. “We aren’t interested in just any scenic spot. We invest in places where history breathes through the environment—locations that offer a deeper connection to Namibia’s essence.”
The overarching goal, Thieme said, is to create a “seamless luxury travel circuit” across Namibia, enhancing accessibility to a wide variety of unique experiences and positioning the country as a world-class travel destination. The company also plans to upgrade newly acquired properties to align them with O&L’s standards, though without compromising their distinctive character.
While financial specifics of the recent acquisitions have not been disclosed, Thieme assured that O&L intends to invest significantly in enhancing guest offerings at both resorts. “Upgrades will be carried out thoughtfully, ensuring consistency in service quality and guest experience across our portfolio,” he said. Both Le Mirage and Divava will remain operational during the integration and enhancement process.
