Morocco’s fertilizer giant OCP Group’s ultramodern fertilizer blending plant was inaugurated recently in Kaduna, in northern Nigeria. The new facility spread over a10-hectare land includes a blending unit with a production capacity of 120 tonnes per hour and a storage unit with a capacity of 25,000 tonnes.

Apart from the blending plant, the facility has a modern training facility as well as a laboratory equipped with latest technology to conduct quality control and soil analysis. A model farm for performing agronomic trials and farmer training is also part of the project. The inauguration of the plant is expected to support Nigerian farmers by sharing experiences, knowledge, and know-how between OCP Group and stakeholders to leave a profound impact on the agricultural value chain of the country.

The Kaduna plant is one among the three planned fertilizer blending units in Nigeria, and part of OCP Group’s ongoing collaboration with the Nigerian government to improve the country’s agriculture. The other two under construction are in Ogun and Sokoto. The Company stated that it is committed to the task of restoring the food security of the continent by transforming the food systems.
