Former First Lady Michelle Obama and her husband, former US President Barack Obama gave resounding endorsements of Vice President Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday night.
The former first lady criticized Republican candidate Donald Trump’s policies and rhetoric as a limited and narrow view of the world and appealed to the electorate to bet on Kamala Harris as the future hope of the US. However, both husband and wife said the fight ahead would be tough and told the Democrats to rally behind Kamala Hariss solidly.
Echoing his wife’s view, Obama said no other choice other than Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for the November presidential poll. He urged the 50,000 attendees at the convention not to be complacent about politics and called on Americans to embrace Harris for president.
Harris will become the first woman and first Black and South Asian person to be elected US president. Obama, who was the US’ first Black president, told delegates that the United States was “ready for a new chapter” and a “better story” than Trump could offer. The couple urged Democrats to turn out in large numbers to vote in the November election which will pit Harris against Trump.

With the former president retaining a tight hold on his loyal base of supporters, it is expected to be a tight race. Pollsters now started predicting a slight advantage for Harris, because of the advantage she gained in the swing states.
