The number of people from Machaze working in South Africa is increasing. Most of them are without passports. They often become victims of South African xenophobia against foreigners.
The Machaze regional government understands the ambitions of the local youth and the problems they face in South Africa. Authorities are trying to convince them to stay and help the local economy. Authorities want residents to take up jobs locally or start small business operations.

However, the government’s arguments do not seem to alter the trend of the migration of youth. Migrants’ houses in South Africa are growing.
