Ivory Coast saw the highest single-day spike of covid cases on Thursday (30th December) at 1,578 cases. It is the highest number recorded in the country since the outbreak of pandemic, signaling the government to take strict precautionary measures.
However, the government – the Ministry of Health- gave no further explanation as to the reason behind the surge. More tests were being done in the country for the last few days. This could be one of the reasons for the spike.
IN the meantime, the health minister Pierre Dimba, has urged all citizens over 18-year old to get vaccinated. Vaccination is free in the country. So far, the West African country has recorded 68,146 Covid cases.
