In a joint media statement, the Sudan Troika (Norway, UK and USA) reacted to the resignation of PM Abdallah Hamdok. They assured their continued support to the democratic aspirations of the Sudanese. ‘The Troika and the European Union clarified that  they will not approve a Prime Minister or government-appointed without involving the civilian stakeholders .
Troika and the EU in the joint statement said that the resignation of Sudanese Prime Minister, two months after the military’s unconstitutional seizure of power, highlights the urgency for all Sudanese leaders to commit themselves  to the country’s democratic transition and  fulfil the aspirations of the Sudanese people’s  for freedom, peace, and justice. It urged Sudanese stakeholders to work on the basis of the 2019 Constitutional Declaration on how to diffuse  the nation’s current political crisis and, select new civilian leadership, by setting clear timelines and processes for the  transitional tasks. They also have to establish the legislative and judicial branches of government, creating accountability mechanisms, and laying the foundation for elections.
