Nigeria’s ruling party kicks off election campaign for 2023 elections

All Progressive Party (APC), Nigeria’s ruling political wing, kicked off the presidential campaign in Jos (Plateau State) for the elections to be held a few months away from now; that is at the end of February 2023

All Progressive Party (APC), Nigeria’s ruling political wing, kicked off the presidential campaign in Jos (Plateau State) for the elections to be held a few months away from now; that is at the end of February 2023.

The party’s presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, promised the country’s youth to be hopeful of a  better future, though the present time was fraught with many problems and vicissitudes. He praised the achievements of the country under the current president, Muhammadu Buhari, and assured that he would build on his achievements to take the country in a new direction in the development path.

There are a total of 18 candidates in the presidential race. Analysts are of the opinion, that, only four have a fighting chance.   They are Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC); Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Peter Obi of the Labour P of any such incidents, arty (LP); and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Previous general elections of the west African and most populous country in the continent had witnessed violence including killings.  There is a hope among the citizenry that this year’s election would be bereft of any such untoward incidents.
